Overview: How Vettel can claim the title

Although the chances are small, Sebastian Vettel can claim a fourth successive world title at the Japanese Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver holds a 77-point lead over Ferrari rival Fernando Alonso, and must increase that to advantage to 100 this weekend. Four straight victories have put Vettel in the enviable position ahead of the Suzuka event. Not only has the German broken Mercedes' qualifying stranglehold, but his race pace has been dominant at times, with a two-second per lap cushion in Singapore.
