Silverstone: Kerbs not to blame for blow-outs

Silverstone organisers have shunned claims that the circuit's kerbs could have played a role in the dramatic sequence of tyre failures suffered at the British Grand Prix. Four drivers were hit with left-rear blow-outs during Sunday afternoon's race, including early leader Lewis Hamilton, prompting sole tyre supplier Pirelli to launch a full-scale investigation at its Milan headquarters in a bid to uncover the root cause of the issue. Reports later emerged linking the tyre problems to sharp edges on selected kerbs at the Northamptonshire venue, but Derek Warwick, President of the British Racing Drivers Club, labelled the argument as "absolute rubbish".
