Wolff confirms Singapore engine penalty nightmare for Russell

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has confirmed that George Russell will be consigned to the absolute back of the grid next Sunday in Singapore following a crippling engine penalty. The severe setback – one more for the Briton – is a direct result of the agonizing climax of last weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, where Russell’s fourth power unit of the 2026 campaign abruptly expired on lap 50 while holding a podium spot.
