Sainz hit with five-place grid penalty after Baku breach

Carlos Sainz’s promising qualifying effort in Baku has been dented by a five-place grid penalty after the Williams driver was found guilty of failing to slow sufficiently for yellow flags. Sainz had hauled Williams’ heavily revised FW48 into Q3 and secured ninth on the grid, only for his lap to come under investigation after Lando Norris ran off track ahead of him. Following a hearing involving Sainz and a Williams representative, the stewards concluded that the Spaniard had not reacted appropriately to the yellow flags displayed after Turn 2 and approaching Turn 3....
