Hamilton blown away by F1’s ‘quite phenomenal’ convergence

Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he is still regularly struck by just how closely Formula 1’s teams can converge on the stopwatch despite taking radically different routes to get there. The Ferrari driver has experienced that contrast first-hand during a career spanning multiple generations of F1 machinery and three very different teams, and the opening stages of the 2026 rules cycle have provided perhaps the clearest illustration yet of how many engineering roads can lead to an almost identical destination.
