F1: Italian Grand Prix: Qualifying team notes - Mercedes
George Russell missed out on pole position for Sunday's Italian Grand Prix by just 0.060s as the Alpine of Pierre Gasly surprised the field to take P1. The team had continued its solid Friday form into FP3 with George topping the times on the Soft tyre. Qualifying later in the afternoon proved more challenging though with several contenders for pole including the Ferraris, the McLarens, the Red Bulls, and the Alpines. Both cars progressed to Q3 where Kimi set a solitary effort as he focused on helping provide a tow to his teammate.
