Gasly: Monza pole finally caps ‘nine years of trying’

Magic repeated itself on Saturday at the iconic Autodromo Nazionale Monza, as Alpine's Pierre Gasly produced an extraordinary qualifying performance to secure the very first pole position of his Formula 1 career. Cruising down the pitlane at the end of a thrilling grid-defining session the Frenchman bypassed the usual parking spots reserved for the rest of the field, steering his machine straight toward the coveted number one board.
