Norris explains why he ended McLaren contract speculation early

Lando Norris had no interest in allowing the Formula 1 driver market to become a distraction, and his new McLaren contract was designed to make sure neither he nor the team has to waste energy looking over its shoulder. The reigning world champion had a deal running through 2027, but discussions over an extension had been on the table since his title triumph in Abu Dhabi last year.
