Mercedes confirms Antonelli grid penalty for Italian GP

Kimi Antonelli’s homecoming at Monza is set to begin with a painful handicap, as Mercedes has confirmed that its championship leader will start next weekend’s Italian Grand Prix from the back of the grid after taking a strategic power-unit penalty. The decision means Antonelli will face one of the biggest challenges of his remarkable 2026 campaign at the very circuit where he will be hoping to celebrate in front of his home crowd.
