Verstappen reflects on a challenging opening day on home soil
Red Bull endured a mixed opening day at the Dutch Grand Prix as Max Verstappen qualified sixth for the Sprint while Liam Lawson narrowly missed out on a place in SQ3 on his 2026 Red Bull debut. Verstappen struggled to find the right balance during the only practice session at Zandvoort, complaining of both oversteer and understeer before running through the gravel. Although the four-time world champion made progress with the RB22 throughout the day, Red Bull ultimately lacked the outright pace required to challenge for the front two rows. Verstappen eventually set a 1:12.094 in Sprint Qualifying to take sixth place, leaving him behind the Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari drivers at the front....
