Antonelli says early off compromised Sprint qualifying pace

Kimi Antonelli emerged from Friday’s Sprint qualifying only 0.227 seconds off Mercedes team-mate George Russell’s pole time, but the championship leader revealed afterwards that his fight for the front was compromised by damage sustained almost immediately. Antonelli will start Saturday’s Sprint from fifth after an off at the penultimate corner during his opening SQ1 run sent his Mercedes across the gravel.
