Mercedes explain their tyre woes in Hungarian GP qualifying
Mercedes Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin admitted the Silver Arrows lacked the pace to challenge for pole position at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with changing track conditions, tyre preparation difficulties and Andrea Kimi Antonelli's late grid penalty combining to leave the team facing an uphill battle on Sunday. Antonelli had emerged as a genuine contender during the final practice session after making a significant step forward overnight, finishing just over a tenth of a second from the fastest time.
