Mercedes and Williams begin crucial 2027 Tyre Development Test at Silverstone
Formula 1's attention may have shifted away from the British Grand Prix, but the action continued at Silverstone this week as Mercedes and Williams joined Pirelli for an important two-day post-race tyre development test focused on the sport's 2027 regulations. With the FIA's specification freeze for the 2027 tyres approaching on September 1, Pirelli is entering one of the final phases of development before the construction of the new tyres is signed off. The Italian manufacturer remained at Silverstone following Sunday's Grand Prix to evaluate different dry-weather tyre constructions using modified Mercedes and Williams cars.
