McLaren can still catch Mercedes despite deficit – Stella

Jul.2 McLaren boss Andrea Stella insists the reigning champions are not worried despite admitting Mercedes currently has a clear edge in Formula 1's new era. The Woking team arrived at Silverstone after Lando Norris admitted McLaren is around 'three months behind' Mercedes in development under the 2026 regulations. Stella agrees the gap is significant but says it is far from insurmountable. 'The battle for the top will be intense between several teams,' he told Corriere della Sera. 'It will depend on the number of effective updates.' He pointed to Red Bull's resurgence in Austria after its major upgrade package.
