Austrian GP: Russell wins it as Verstappen splits Mercedes drivers

George Russell reignited his Formula 1 title challenge by converting pole position into victory at the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg, holding off a charging Max Verstappen to secure his second win of the 2026 season. The Mercedes driver crossed the finish line 1.6 seconds ahead of the Red Bull driver after controlling much of the race at the Red Bull Ring. Team-mate Kimi Antonelli completed the podium to preserve his championship lead despite missing out on victory.
