Audi Deployed Upgraded F1 Engine At Barcelona After Receiving ADUO Clearance
Audi caught the Formula 1 paddock off guard by introducing an upgraded power unit as early as the Barcelona Grand Prix following the ADUO process. The Additional Development and Upgrade Opportunities mechanism exists specifically to help engine suppliers who are judged to be lacking in power compared to their rivals. The first ADUO review period concluded after the Canadian Grand Prix, with the FIA releasing its findings to manufacturers in Monaco after assessing every power unit's performance level.
