Russell credits ‘back to basics’ approach for strong Barcelona pole

George Russell left the Circuit de Catalunya on Saturday with something arguably more valuable than pole position itself: the feeling that he has rediscovered his mojo. After a difficult spell of setbacks and frustration, the Mercedes driver delivered a commanding lap in Barcelona to take pole for Sunday’s event, edging Lewis Hamilton by 0.064 seconds in a tight, high-quality qualifying battle. It was a performance that not only halted Kimi Antonelli’s recent run of form within Mercedes, but also marked a personal turning point for Russell, who has been searching for stability...
