Hamilton 'didn't know' he was going to lose track position

Article To news overview © Mercedes Lewis Hamilton has said he didn't expect to fall down to fifth place when he was called into the pits to change tyres near the end of the Turkish Grand Prix. Having initally gone against his team's instruction to pit for a fresh set of Intermediate tyres, Hamilton initially looked set to try getting to the chequered flag on the same Intermediate tyres he started the race on. However, with the pace slipping away as those on fresh Intermediates started to pull away, Mercedes pitted Hamilton for fresh Intermediates on Lap 50. But the stop was late enough to the point where he spent most of the rest of the race going through a graining phase and wasn't able...
