'McLaren wants to keep Sainz very much and surpasses salary proposal Ferrari'

According to several media, Carlos Sainz would sign a contract with Ferrari on Thursday, but if we can believe Marca, McLaren is doing everything possible at the last minute to keep his driver. The Spaniard could extend his contract at the Woking race stable and start earning more than Ferrari would have offered. In Italy, there is a contract for Sainz worth about 6 to 7 million euros a year. McLaren would have offered 'considerably more' than Ferrari, according to the Spanish sports newspaper. So it seems that McLaren is pulling out all the stops to stop Sainz from leaving. The 25-year old driver will have to succeed Sebastian Vettel in the Maranello-based team from 2021. Read more...
