Wolff admits to voting against qualifying sprint races

Oct.30 Toto Wolff has admitted he voted down Liberty Media's proposal to test a radical new qualifying format in 2020. Ross Brawn, the F1 sporting director, had revealed a plan to trial a new format next year over three grand prix weekends. The idea was to base qualifying on a reverse-grid sprint race. "We were just asking for the opportunity for three races to try the format," Brawn said. "The teams initially said they would agree with it and then two teams put their hand up at the last meeting and said they wouldn't agree with it."
