Sainz handed Canadian GP grid penalty

Canadian Grand Prix – Carlos Sainz has been handed a three-place grid drop for impeding another driver during qualifying. The McLaren driver had looked strong during Friday practice, and – along with team-mate Lando Norris – managed to progress into Q3, giving McLaren their second double-Q3 appearance of the season. However, he was judged to have blocked Toro Rosso's Alexander Albon during the first part of qualifying, with replays showing the McLaren getting in the way in turns one and two. Both men progressed from Q1, but the blocking offence still applies, and the three-place grid drop had demoted him to 12th place, although he gains a position due to Kevin Magnussen...
