Verstappen: Red Bull close to Mercedes, Ferrari at Suzuka

Max Verstappen has confidence that Red Bull will be close to Formula 1 rivals Mercedes and Ferrari at this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix despite only getting one dry practice session to compare pace with on Friday at Suzuka. Red Bull has made significant gains on the top two teams in recent weeks, with Verstappen claiming a dominant victory in Malaysia last weekend, and is hopeful of rolling the form on and taking its first Suzuka win since 2013 on Sunday. Despite only finishing sixth in FP1 and losing track time to a red flag, Verstappen saw enough to give him hope that Red Bull will be able to fight at the front for victory.
