Lewis Hamilton pips Sebastian Vettel to pole by 0.051s as Fernando Alonso starts P7

Lewis Hamilton will start the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position – his third of the season – as he narrowly beat the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel by just 0.051 seconds under the sunny Barcelona skies. Hamilton secured provisional pole on his first flying lap of Q3 and failed to improve on his second run, but that didn't matter as the Briton did just enough to make sure he starts at the very front. Vettel threatened the Mercedes, but in the end split them as Valtteri Bottas struggled to match his team-mates time.
