Lewis Hamilton/Fernando Alonso partnership at Mercedes wouldn't have worked - Nico Rosberg

Nico Rosberg believes Mercedes were right not to chase Fernando Alonso for the second Mercedes seat, as pairing the Spaniard with Lewis Hamilton would have led to 'fireworks' and that wouldn't work for Mercedes. Rosberg's late decision to retire left Mercedes in a hurry to find a suitable replacement, with the team eventually settling on Valtteri Bottas – as the majority of the grid is tied up in long-term contracts.
