Rosberg claims easy pole as Hamilton suffers PU failure – Qualifying Report

Russian Grand Prix – Mercedes' Nico Rosberg will start from pole position for Sunday's race. He took top spot, a job made easier by the demise of teammate Lewis Hamilton at the end of Q2. The two Mercs looked set to go into another direct duel for pole position, comfortably quicker than anyone else throughout Q1 & Q2. However, Hamilton went back out for a second run at the end of Q2 and suffered a power unit failure the same as the one that ruled him out of qualifying in China. This meant Nico Rosberg's job was made far easier, and he put in a time 0.8 seconds clear of Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who himself has a five place grid penalty for a gearbox change on Friday.
