Alonso clarifies comments, reaffirms commitment

Fernando Alonso has reaffirmed his commitment to McLaren-Honda after he was criticised by Ron Dennis for comments he made over the team radio during the Japanese Grand Prix. The Spaniard was heard saying he was 'embarrassed' to be overtaken so easily on the straights by rivals during the Suzuka race, adding that the Honda engine was akin to a 'GP2 engine'. Though he went on to finish a solid 11th in a race of just one retirement, Alonso's scathing words drew criticism from McLaren CEO Dennis, who felt the comments were 'unprofessional' given it was Honda's home race and was being attended by many of its top brass.
