Mercedes make their defence
The FIA have insisted that Mercedes and Pirelli did not receive permission to run their 'private' tyre test, as the 'testgate' hearing commenced in Paris on Thursday morning. The governing body crucially also accused Mercedes of contravening Article 151c of the governing body's International Sporting Code, which prohibits "any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motorsport generally" with the FIA's lawyer stating that "undoubtedly Mercedes obtained information during this test and it is self-evidently prejudicial to the sporting competition".
