Alonso tops F1 rich list

Fernando Alonso is the highest paid driver in Formula One, ahead of championship rivals Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, according to the latest Forbes list. Alonso, who has headed the F1 rich list ever since his move to Ferrari in 2010, earns an estimated $30m a year. Ferrari are believed to pay the Spaniard $28m in salary, while Alonso earns around $2m from personal endorsements. His total earnings put him 19th in the Forbes sporting rich-list. Lewis Hamilton pulls in an estimated $27.5m after he made the switch from McLaren to Mercedes for 2013, and is 26th in the overall list.
