Alonso relieved with return to podium

Fernando Alonso expressed a feeling of relief after finishing second in Sunday afternoon’s Canadian Grand Prix, with the Ferrari driver bouncing back from a below-par seventh-place finish on the streets of Monte-Carlo last time out. Although the Spaniard could only claim sixth on the grid during a rain-hit qualifying session 24 hours ago, he fought through the field with a succession of brave overtakes, most notably on Mark Webber and Lewis Hamilton at the first corner.
