Pirelli to make changes after tyres dominate

Pirelli promised to make changes on Sunday after tyre strategy dominated Formula One's Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona Sunday. The race saw a total of 82 pit stops as teams focused on conserving tyres in a race won by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, who made four stops for tyre changes. Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery said on Twitter: "We aim for 2-3 pit stops. Today was too many, we got it wrong, too aggressive. We will make changes, probably from Silverstone (on June 30)." The Italian company, which has come in for criticism of its tyre compounds, brought in a new hard compound to the race at the Circuit de Catalyuna.
