Red Bull Racing came to the Japanese Grand Prix with a number of updates. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were able to really test how those parts feel during qualifying, but feel they still have a few things to learn about the new parts.

"I think [the car] hasn't changed much, the characteristic. I think we just improved, we've got a better car, and yeah, I think, for now, it's probably this track, it's hard to see the upgrade because it's more biased to other circuits, so I think from that point of view we have got to wait a couple of races to really learn from it, from that package," Perez said after qualifying.

What does Verstappen think of the updates?

Verstappen also still finds it difficult to judge the new package after one qualifying session: "I mean, it's always very difficult to say when you haven't run the previous package here as well, but actually it should be a step forward, so we of course take it and we just work from there and try to understand it more and try to optimise it even more."

Ahead of the race weekend, Red Bull Racing presented three new parts to their car. The Austrian team have new inlets for the sidepods and a modification to the surface and edge of the floor. Also included are smaller inlets for the brakes, these were specifically taken to Japan and are not an update.
