Speaking to GPblog.com and others after the unveiling of the RB19, Sergio Perez has not spoken out loud that he wants to fight for the world title in 2023. The 33-year-old driver wants to "maximise" and "go for the win every weekend". Perez otherwise feels no extra pressure this season, despite the arrival of the experienced Daniel Ricciardo.

When Pérez is asked about what is a realistic goal for him next season, he replies: "I want to maximise the car potential that we get and I want to be fighting for the win every weekend." In any case, his commitment will not be lacking in 2023. "I am working hard for it and it's my main target."

Pleased with Ricciardo

With the arrival of Ricciardo, Red Bull have a very experienced third driver who can put the team on the right track thanks to his simulator work. The Mexican driver is therefore happy with the help of the driver sent away from McLaren.

"I think we are fortunate to have Daniel, the level of experience he has. To be able to have him back at the factory with the engineers, he really knows when we are talking about the car, he will understand what we are talking about. So I think it's great to have someone like him around. Especially on weekends he will be a massive help," Perez said.

Perez doesn't fear for place

Max Verstappen's teammate is not necessarily worried now that Ricciardo has been contracted as a third driver. It is relatively easy for Red Bull to pass on 'The Honey Badger' if Perez does not perform to their liking. However, it's not a scenario that's on the Mexican's mind. "When you are at Red Bull Racing, you better perform at your best. Doesn't matter if Red Bull are here or not. Red Bull can pick any driver they want on the grid," he explained.
