Pierre Gasly enjoyed his time at AlphaTauri. The 26-year-old Frenchman was a part of the racing stable (formerly Toro Rosso) for many years and therefore has many memories of the team, he proudly tells us in conversation with Formula1.com.

The driver made his racing debut for Toro Rosso in Formula 1 five years ago in Malaysia, before making the switch to Red Bull Racing in 2019. However, he failed to convince there, returning to his old formation the same season.

Good memories Gasly of AlphaTauri

Over the past three seasons, Gasly was good for 10th, 9th and 14th positions respectively. This generated interest at Alpine where he will be the successor to the departed Fernando Alonso. Although he is very much looking forward to his new challenge, Gasly is sorry to leave his old team.

"[The] last five years I’ve spent more time with them than my own family, my brothers, parents, anyone else," he concludes in the interview. "I know these guys personally. It’s definitely closing a chapter."

"I will remember everything I have experienced over the years with the team, my first race in Formula 1, first podium and first win. I know that I am a better driver today because of them and I am so grateful for all these achievements."
