The Formula 2 grid for 2023 is starting to take shape. The last step-up class on the way to Formula 1 hosts the biggest talents every year. Who are interesting to keep an eye on this year?

Changes at the top of F2

As reigning champions, MP Motorsport naturally has an edge in many junior programmes and therefore has Red Bull junior Dennis Hauger at its disposal in 2023. The Norwegian finished tenth in his first F2 season, but previously won the F3 championship. MP Motorsport saw Felipe Drugovich leave for Aston Martin and Clement Novalak has been announced at Trident. So a second driver is yet to be found by the Dutch racing stable.

The second team on the grid is that of Carlin. With Liam Lawson and Logan Sargeant, the British team had a strong line-up in 2022 and with Enzo Fittipaldi, another strong driver has been recruited. The grandson of Emerson made the most of his Charouz and it will be fun to see how he does at a top team in F2.

ART Grand Prix has not yet appointed any drivers, but Prema has already rounded out the complete line-up. Frederik Vesti will be acquired from ART after finishing ninth in 2022, but most of the focus will be on Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman. The 17-year-old Briton finished third in his first F3 season and is already getting the chance to step up from Prema.

Surprises further up the grid

Hitech Grand Prix has yet to appoint any drivers for 2023, while DAMS has already confirmed Arthur Leclerc. Charles Leclerc's younger brother somewhat disappointed in his second F3 season, but hopes to make more of an impression in F2. Virtuosi already confirmed ambitious Alpine junior Jack Doohan and Van Amersfoort-born Amaury Cordeel. Eyes are especially on Doohan, who is hoping for more in 2023 after finishing sixth with the same team.

Charouz confirmed a young American with Brad Benavides and gained particular attention with the appointment of 28-year-old Roy Nissany. Indeed, the Israeli is starting his fifth season in F2. Trident already confirmed Novalak's arrival, where Van Amersfoort is yet to announce its drivers. Campos Racing, the last team to finish in 2022, will opt for Ralph Boschung and Kush Maini in 2023.
