Perez after different practice sessions: 'Temperatures are treacherous'

Like Lewis Hamilton, Sergio Perez noticed two very different free practice sessions on Friday. The temperatures played a big part in that. Before qualifying starts, Perez wants to focus mainly on improving race pace.

Mercedes was very fast in FP1, but the Red Bull seemed to be the fastest car in FP2. At least, in the hands of Max Verstappen. For Sergio Perez, there was still some time to be found and he hoped to do so mainly in the short runs. Indeed, the rest already looked good with his RB18. In a press statement, the Mexican said, "The car was good today. It was a very two interesting sessions. Very different in the morning to the afternoon."

Perez continued: "The morning was a bit tricky with the temperature. That means we had to focus mainly on the afternoon session. After all, that will be more representative for the weekend." Perez is still exploring the perfect balance, but does not think it will be a difficult task. Perez: "We are competitive on the long runs, but we can still find something in the short runs. There are still some things we need to analyse. It's very important to have a great race pace here."
