McLaren with major updates for Singapore

As they seek to chase down Alpine in the Constructors' Championship, McLaren have brought major updates to the MCL36 ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.

McLaren have brought major upgrades to the MCL36 for the Singapore Grand Prix, as the team looks to overhaul Alpine in the battle for fourth place in the Constructors' Championship. A rendering of the Woking squad's temporary livery for the Singapore and Japanese Grands Prix showed changes to the MCL36's sidepods and floor. Speaking after the Italian Grand Prix, McLaren Technical Director James Key had hinted at updates for the upcoming races. "We've got another new package to come, which we are working on now, and then there will be a few minor ones to follow in the remaining races," Key told McLaren's Inside the MTC . "We have more developments coming, which we hope will add more performance to our car. "Of course, we don't know whether the teams around us will match this, but we hope it will give us some advantage."

Alpine, AlphaTauri also bringing updates to Singapore

Images of the MCL36 before and after the Singapore updates clearly show the sidepods to be less tapered than the previous versions, with the new iteration bearing a resemblance to Red Bull’s all-conquering RB18. Other teams to have brought updates to Singapore include Alpine, who have brought an upgraded floor to be run on both Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon's cars, and AlphaTauri, who appear to have brought a new front wing to Marina Bay.
