Norris hails Verstappen as "one of the most talented ever" in F1

Lando Norris has heaped praise on Max Verstappen as he closes in on a second F1 world title.

He’s done a pretty good job – he should maybe have a go in our car and see what it’s like,” Norris joked to Sky Sports . Verstappen’s form this year has led Norris to compare it to that of Lewis Hamilton, who dominated the sport for several years prior to Verstappen’s title success. “He’s done amazing [and has been] very impressive. Similar to Lewis in previous years,” Norris said. “He is one of the most talented drivers ever to come into Formula 1, one of the fastest. No doubt he is going to win his second [title] this year and most likely, he will go on to win a few more in the future.” Norris says that he is impressed with Verstappen’s ability to find the limit of the car from the early stages of the grand prix weekend, while others gradually increase their pace. “Even in FP1, FP2, FP3, he’s never under the limit, he’s always pushing the limits,” added the McLaren driver. “Even FP1, the first lap of the whole day, his lap times are normally quicker than what we ever do in qualifying.”

Lando Norris believes Max Verstappen "is one of the most talented ever" to race in Formula 1 as he closes in on a second world crown. Verstappen claimed the 2021 title and has dominated in 2022, winning 11 of 16 races prior to the Singapore Grand Prix - which is his first chance to wrap the championship up. He enters the weekend 116 points clear of Charles Leclerc, knowing that if he wins, Leclerc must finish eighth or higher to take the fight to Japan next time out. If Verstappen's lead is 138 points or more after the race, he will become a double world champion - the first since Fernando Alonso in 2006.

Norris praises Verstappen

“He’s done amazing [and has been] very impressive, [very] similar to Lewis [Hamilton] in previous years," Norris told Sky Sports F1's Any Driven Monday programme. "He is one of the most talented drivers ever to come into Formula 1, one of the fastest. "No doubt he is going to win his second [title] this year and most likely, he will go on to win a few more in the future. "Even in FP1, FP2 and FP3, he's never under the limit - he's always pushing [them]. "[On] the first lap of the whole day [in FP1], his lap times are normally quicker than what we ever do in qualifying. "He’s done a pretty good job – he should maybe have a go in our car and see what it’s like!"
