Sergio Perez says he has long resigned himself to the current state of the championship. The Mexican driver is clear, though, that he wants to go for as many wins as possible this season, and then come back stronger in 2023. Incidentally, he does hope for a win at one circuit in particular.

The second part of the 2022 Formula 1 season has been difficult for Perez. After a promising start in which he battled with his Red Bull Racing teammate Max Verstappen for first place in the overall standings and managed to win the Monaco Grand Prix, he has now lost more than 100 points compared to the Dutchman.

Competitive

The Mexican has long resigned himself to this. He thinks it is important to finish strong, be very competitive and win races again. His goal in the last six races is to get back to victory lane. The Mexican said this in a live broadcast with FOX Sports México, according to the Latin American branch of Motorsport.com. He added that the championship is practically a done deal and his teammate can prolong his title. Who becomes the runner-up he does not care. Perez thinks it is especially important to return to a competitive level to start 2023 strongly.

Priority

However, the Red Bull Racing driver has a clear goal in the final part of this year's season: to pick up a win at the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome at the 2021 Mexican Grand Prix, where he took the podium alongside Verstappen. "My priority is to come at a very good time in my season. I dream of winning the Mexican Grand Prix," he concluded.
