Leclerc very happy with Ferrari in comparison with previous seasons

Charles Leclerc has had a turbulent first half of the season, with both he and Ferrari making mistakes on several occasions. Although the Monegasque is keen to maximise his performance, he is relieved that he can finally compete for the front places this season.

Since his arrival in 2019, Leclerc has had to deal with many setbacks. In 2020, for example, the Italian team experienced another dramatic year, finishing in the middle of the pack. Last season, it had to recover and made strides, but the team was unable to go for wins for the entire race year.

Leclerc relieved at current Ferrari status

That's not the case this year. Ferrari took the top prize in the opening race in Bahrain and have continued to do so. However, it didn't always result in victories as several things went wrong for Ferrari.

However, as Leclerc knows what it is like to fight in the midfield, he is delighted that Ferrari are able to maintain their current form. Moreover, the driver is satisfied that his team is enabling him to fight with Max Verstappen this season.

"Whenever you are doing a great job you're rewarded with a victory," Leclerc stated in conversation with the BBC. "That is much more rewarding than a fifth place like last year, whenever we were doing the perfect job. And it's also beautiful to see the smiles on the faces of all the people now back at the factory and at the track."
