The Belgian Grand Prix is under heavy pressure. The future of the historic race is anything but certain, but the organisation is doing everything possible to keep its place on the Formula 1 calendar. Drastic renovations were made to the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit over the winter and it is now completely ready for the race in August.

Renewed Spa-Francorchamps

The classic layout remains largely the same, but several important changes have been made. The iconic Raidillon/Eau Rouge corner combination has been drastically changed for the benefit of safety after a number of serious and even fatal accidents occurred there in recent years.

From the same safety point of view, many gravel bays have returned and existing gravel bays have been expanded. Tom Coronel drove a lap around the renewed circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, where the Belgian Grand Prix is on the programme on August 28. For now, it is unknown if that will be the last edition at the widely popular circuit.
