Sainz refutes 'solution' to Verstappen's porpoising problem

The press conference of the Canadian Grand Prix is mainly dominated by the announced intervention of the FIA regarding the porpoising problem. Carlos Sainz who last week requested the FIA to act, is surprised by the quick action of the motorsport federation.

'Porpoising concerns everyone'

Sainz has long been done with the conditions in the cockpit of his Ferrari F1-75. Like other drivers, he is experiencing physical discomfort from the severe hobbling of his car. The Spaniard called on the FIA to take action and reduce the bumping. During the press conference, Sainz does not sound surprised at how quickly the FIA finally acted. Indeed, according to the Ferrari driver, it is a problem that concerns everyone.

Motorsport-magazin.com quotes Sainz: "To be honest, I wasn't surprised by the FIA's quick action. I think we have to look at every detail to see what we have to do in the future. We have to make the right choices to make the cars more forgiving. I think it affects almost everyone because everyone has already tuned the car as low and stiff as possible."

'Solution' from Verstappen makes no sense

With the last sentence, the Spaniard contradicts reigning world champion Max Verstappen. For Verstappen, the help that the FIA is going to offer feels like a disadvantage for Red Bull; the Dutchman therefore quickly indicated that he did not like it and came up with the solution for the teams to adjust the ride height. Since, according to Sainz, that is not possible, this 'solution' of Verstappen's does not work. Sainz also thinks that Red Bull may end up benefiting just as much from the upcoming relaxation of the rules, as the RB18 is also likely to be set up as stiff and as low as possible.
