'Leclerc possibly faces a grid penalty during Canadian GP'

Ferrari saw Charles Leclerc unexpectedly retire with engine problems last weekend in Azerbaijan. According to the BBC it may not just stay with the outage, but is also going to have consequences for the race weekend in Canada.

The Italian team already used three turbochargers for Leclerc's car. If Ferrari has to replace them again the driver will be penalized with no less than ten places. For Leclerc it would only make the challenge in Canada bigger, since he can then start from eleventh place at best.

The medium reports that Leclerc still has room for one replacement on the other parts of the power unit before penalties hang over his head in the process as well. The Monegasque will therefore have to wait and see what his team decides in the coming days.

Leclerc's gap to Red Bull drivers

His engine problems in Baku left Leclerc empty-handed, while Sergio Perez captured second place. It ensured that the Mexican went over Leclerc in the world championship. Carlos Sainz also had to pay for it with a retirement after he suffered brake problems with his car. The latter driver can be found in fifth place for the time being.
