Monte Carlo weather: Will it rain during the Monaco GP?

There's no rest for the wicked as Formula 1 returns for the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the most eagerly anticipated events on the calendar.

It may have only been a matter of days since Max Verstappen took the chequered flag in Barcelona, but Formula 1 is back and ready for the next chapter of the 2022 season at Monaco. One of the most eagerly anticipated races on the calendar, drivers and fans alike will be keen to see how the bigger, heavier but easier to follow cars will cope on the twisting streets of Monte Carlo. The teams will be praying for cooler conditions than at the Spanish Grand Prix, where Mercedes were forced to slow their pace considerably during the final few laps to fend off a retirement risk. But will the sweltering temperatures extend from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to France's southern coast? And are reports that rain is expected on race day accurate?

Monaco set to deliver glorious weather on Friday and Saturday

With practice, qualifying and the race all set to take part in the afternoon, temperatures will once again be high, albeit not as hot as in Barcelona. According to WeerOnline.nl , Friday and Saturday should bring highs of around 26 degrees Celsius, although track temperatures could fall on occasions with scattered cloud cover expected. Those at the track have been warned to cover up or wear sunscreen. Without protection, skin can burn within 10 minutes.

Will it rain during the Monaco Grand Prix?

While drivers are expected to wake up to sunshine and clear blue skies on Sunday morning, that is predicted to change in the afternoon when large clouds will form overhead. With that will come rain showers and thunderstorms in the region, predicts W eerOnline.nl , although the chance of the race starting in wet conditions is at 0%. However, there is a 15% chance that rain will fall at some stage during the Grand Prix, with clouds forecast to grow darker once the racing action has begun.
