Carlos Sainz had the car to score a podium finish in Barcelona, but he failed to do so in his home Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver spun early in the race after a gust of wind, losing more multiple spots and more than ten seconds. Sainz is critical of himself after Sunday's fourth-place finish.

"Too bad, it was a bad race from start to finish. I had a lot of problems with my balance, but especially that gust of wind in Turn 4 was something I didn't anticipate very well, which caused me to end up in the gravel," Sainz said to Soymotor.com after the race. That he eventually also had to put up with the Mercedes of George Russell hurts, but the Madrid native has an explanation."The floor got damaged, so I lost a lot of downforce."

Only twelve World Championship points for Ferrari

That he was the only driver on behalf of the team to score points is painful for Ferrari. "It was a bad race for the team, unfortunate for Charles, we don't know what happened, but it's part of a 23-race championship," Sainz concluded soberly."There will always be good and bad races and this was one of the worst races for the team so far this season. We will try to revenge ourselves."

Fortunately for Ferrari, the next Grand Prix is as early as next week. The Formula One circus will travel to Monaco. Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing will do so as World Championship leaders, a bitter pill for Ferrari to swallow, although Charles Leclerc doesn't seem to be too worried about it.
