Brown comes up with groundbreaking idea for overcrowded F1 calendar

The FIA hopes to add several new circuits to the racing calendar in the coming years. Zak Brown believes that the calendar in Formula 1 is full, but sees another way to race in other countries.

In fact, the CEO of McLaren likes to look at other sports to come up with ideas. For example, he thinks one option is not to race at the same tracks every year, but to visit a number of tracks once every two or three years. In this way, diversity would be created, he explains in conversation with Motorlat.com.

"The Olympics is every four, the World Cup. So, I think an ‘every other year’ scenario for some Grands Prix would maintain plenty of interest for these," states Brown, who would find the South Africa GP interesting. "It is a continent with a big population and us going there would be a nice gesture I think."

Brown disagrees with the FIA

The FIA previously hinted that it did not want to rule out having 30 GPs on the calendar in the future. Brown does not think that is a good idea and believes that the organization should not allow more than 23 races in a season.
