Lando Norris could not continue his good form from Imola in Miami. In the second part of the race, Pierre Gasly drove hard against him, causing him to lose his tire and to abandon the American Grand Prix. Although he was disappointed afterwards in his conversation with Viaplay, he also remained realistic about the moment.

The Frenchman had problems with steering just before the incident, which caused him to lose a lot of time. While informing his team of the situation, he steered a bit to the left on the straight. Norris was just entering at that moment, causing both drivers to collide head-on.

"It's difficult," Norris began, explaining the incident. "He went off the track and went wide, I don't feel like he left me enough room. He could've turned more. I could've gone more to the wall, it's a bit silly. But it happens, it's racing."

Disappointment at McLaren in Miami

It was not McLaren's weekend, as Daniel Ricciardo also proved unable to grab points for his team. The Australian was driving around eighth position at the halfway point of the race but eventually had to settle for P11. He came three and a half seconds short of passing Alexander Albon.
