Prior to the first free practice for the Qatar Grand Prix, the FIA published a daunting list of track limits for the race weekend. However, after the first free practice, Michael Masi removed the entire section on track limits, and instead came up with a rule that applies to every corner.

Initially, track limits applied to corners four, 12, 13, 14 and 16. On second thought, the FIA felt it was a better idea to designate track limits for all corners, according to a publication from race director Masi.

The rule is simple: the kerbs are now the limit everywhere. If a driver loses contact with the kerbs at the exit of a corner, it is considered a violation. "For the avoidance of doubt: Drivers are considered to have left the track on a corner exit if no part of the car remains in contact with the purple-white kerb, " Masi explained.
