Mercedes has asked the FIA for a review of Max Verstappen's defensive actions against Lewis Hamilton at the Brazilian Grand Prix. According to Mercedes, this is based on new evidence that was not available to the stewards at the time of the decision.

Mercedes' request comes after new onboard footage of Verstappen was revealed. Earlier, the footage was not available and could not be taken into account by the stewards in their decision not to give Verstappen a penalty for his actions in turn four on lap 48. Both Verstappen and Hamilton went off track.

Time penalty for Verstappen?

Mercedes will try to get a time penalty for Verstappen with the request. Valtteri Bottas finished only three seconds behind the Dutchman. A time penalty of five seconds would mean that the Dutchman would lose his second place to the Finn and lose valuable points in the championship.
