After winning the world title in Formula E, Nyck de Vries was linked with various Formula 1 teams. He was mentioned as a possible driver for Williams, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo. However, there is no room for him at the first two teams and Alfa Romeo would therefore be his only remaining option.

Honoured to be mentioned

Besides Formula E, De Vries also won the Formula 2 championship. Despite winning two titles, the Dutchman has yet to make the step to Formula 1. The fact that he is now being linked with several teams does not mean anything. Especially after the confirmation of Alexander Albon at Williams, the chances seem slim for De Vries.

In the podcast of The Race De Vries talks about his F1 chances. "First of all, I want to say that I feel honoured that my name is associated with some Formula 1 teams and that my name is circulating a lot there. I also like to hear what Toto Wolff is saying about me."

Alfa Romeo last chance for De Vries

The only team with a seat left for next season is Alfa Romeo, although Antonio Giovinazzi may well stay on for another year. "Ultimately I am aware that in Formula 1 things change quickly. I am a realist and prefer to focus on what I have in front of me now. That's where my focus is." Should Formula 1 not work out, De Vries will drive for Mercedes again next season in Formula E.

"What the future holds, I don't know. To earn my opportunities within my career I need to keep performing in every race I drive. So that's where my focus lies and also my passion." The young Frisian, therefore, pays little attention to all the rumours. "That's how it is in the media. I have nothing to tell you about this and time will tell."
