That Lawrence Stroll and Sebastian Vettel wanted to continue working together at Aston Martin F1 was beyond dispute. Yet the signing of the contract took some time. Vettel, however, subsequently revealed that he was never worried about an extension and is enthusiastic about the coming years.

Vettel jubilant about 2022

“I think in the end the excitement for next year", Vettel began during the FIA press conference opposite the likes of Autosport.com. "The new cars, new regs, and I think where the team is going, everything looks very promising.”

"Next year, a lot of things are changing, I don’t think anybody is guaranteed to win.”

First-year of collaboration between Aston Martin and Vettel

Things are going well in camp Aston Martin according to the German: "“It’s been a great season, maybe not in terms of results, but in terms of working. Morale is high, so a lot of things that excite me."

Aston Martin's ambitions to become champions are still there. Vettel is realistic about that and reckons it could be at least four or five years before the team is able to compete at the top and take a shot at the title. It is doubtful the four-time world champion will be able to be there himself in 2026.
